The incumbent contributes to the mission of this office by providing the necessary office automation, clerical, and administrative support to the Supervisory Information Technology Specialist, and the staff. Ensures the clerical and administrative portions of the Supervisor's work are accomplished effectively in accordance with established procedures, allowing him/her to concentrate on professional and managerial duties.
INDIAN PREFERENCE: Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (Title 25, USC, Section 472). Performs a variety of administrative support duties, such as making travel arrangements, making arrangements for conferences, composing complex but non-technical correspondence, locating and assembling information for various reports, briefings, conferences, etc.
Prepares and processes travel authorizations and vouchers for Supervisor and assigned staff.
Implements correspondence tracking system; maintains a record of assignments and critical dates that involves response, distributes written assignments to subordinates; biweekly reminds staff of due dates, and records completion dates of assignments; compiles monthly accounts for the division for submission to Supervisor; quarterly updates on priority ranked projects, and other critical program reports.
Serves as timekeeper and payroll coordinator for CIO office.
Makes reservations for meeting rooms and notifies all individuals of meeting purpose, time and location.
Prepares vehicle requests, prepares and coordinates the approval of DI-2000 forms for CIO.
Serves as the POC for all training classes for employees in CIO and the university.
Supports CIO with credit card procurements and receives office supplies requests from the staff and units.

SPECIALIZED
Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA''s) to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service.
GS-06: 1 year experience equivalent to at least a GS-05 grade level in the Federal Service.
Examples of qualifying experience include: providing program and administrative support such as assisting with budget and procurement activities; compiling and preparing automated reports; processing time and attendance records; maintaining office filing systems; and ensuring that all requests for action or information are acted upon and due dates are met.

PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: Applicants for this position must show possession of Office Automation skills and must have typing proficiency of 40 words per minute. Applicants must meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue certificates by the Office of Personnel Management, or by self-certifying their proficiency.
SUITABILITY & CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: A background security investigation is required. Appointment is subject to the successful completion of the security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
DRIVING REQUIREMENT: Incumbent may be required, as an incidental duty, to operate a government-owned or leased motor vehicle, in the performance of duties, therefore, a valid driver's license is required. Incumbent must have a safe driving record within the three-year period immediately preceding submittal of GSA Form 3607 and be able to meet the safe driving requirements of the Bureau of Indian Education.
