About the Position: This position is with USAG-HI, Directorate of Public Works, Operations & Maintenance Division, Estimating Branch, Schofield Barracks, HI. You will serve as a Mobile Industrial Equipment Operator with the U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, Directorate of Public Works, Operations & Maintenance Division, SB Grounds Maintenance Shop, Schofield Barracks, HI. Responsible for utilizing a gasoline-powered, self-propelled heavy duty riding lawnmower to cut grass. Performs lawn maintenance using trimmers, edgers and other tools as needed. Incumbent will pull weeds, rake, sweep, clear brush, pick up trash and perform maintenance on all types of equipment.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. Applicants must meet this screen out element to be considered further. Failure to meet the screen out element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the screen out element applicants should document experience using a lawnmower, trimmer, edger, and performing manual labor tasks.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:
Operations of Motor Vehicles
Work Practices (Includes keeping things neat, clean and in order)
Ability to interpret instructions, specification, etc. (Related to Mobile Industrial Equipment Operator)
Ability to drive safely (Motor Vehicles)
Ability to operate safely (Non-Motor Vehicles)
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Walking, standing, bending, pushing and lifting of items and materials weighing up to 40 pounds is required as is frequent arm and leg movement to manipulate the equipment controls.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed out of doors where there is exposure to heat, inclement weather, cuts, bruises and physical strain.

Conditions of Employment:
Responds to emergency calls after regular working hours.
The employee will drive a utility truck or similar vehicle to and from the work site in order to transport self, supplies and other employees. Incumbent must be able to obtain and keep current a valid state drivers license and any installation and/or DOD requirement for the type of vehicle being operated.
This position is designated as Drug Testing required. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing in accordance with DA guidelines.
Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat and safety shoes is required.
