At Daktronics the Legal Department is seen as a strategic business partner. We engage in responsibilities that support our business in compliance and evaluating legal risk. Our work goes beyond mere legal review but includes negotiating, drafting and analyzing a wide variety of licensing, sales, consulting and representative agreements.
Daktronics is currently seeking an attorney with 0-3 years of experience to join our team as Associate Counsel.
What are my responsibilities?
As Associate Counsel your primary focus would will be partnering with and advising sales professionals and senior management on legal issues and risks, complex deal structures, approval processes, company policies and procedures, intellectual property, and negotiation strategy. There will be a strong need for you to summarize and communicate legal concepts for use by business people. You will review, draft and negotiate sales contracts and distribution agreements in a manner that complies with Daktronics policies and risk tolerance and advise senior management and recommend courses of action on legal risks. We also continually strive for process improvement and value your opinion on how we can do things better (following Lean Office principles).
Requirements
What do I need to be qualified?
A JD from an accredited law school along with excellent academic credentials. You will also need demonstrated experience in the areas listed below:
Contract law, with transactional background in construction-related agreements a plus.
Drafting and negotiating services agreements, sales contracts, and other agreements.
Excellent business acumen and strategic thinking.
Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently or collaboratively on a team.
Continued willingness and desire to learn and be flexible with an evolving workload.
Strong organizational skills where you've managed multiple and changing priorities with accuracy.
Strong interpersonal skills showing collaboration with others and building effective relationships.
Superior English language written and verbal communication skills.
Commitment to following policies and procedures and maintaining confidentiality.
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
An acceptable background and motor vehicle record. Daktronics does not sponsor, renew, or extend immigration visas for this position.
