the position
Manufacturing Engineers (MEs) plan, coordinate and implement production procedures and improvements in manufacturing processes in conjunction with production leadership, engineering staff and project teams. MEs introduce efficient production methods, support LEAN manufacturing and initiate and direct procedures to increase throughput and productivity.

key responsibilities
Develop, evaluate, and improve production methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Monitor and react to trends in key process parameters (i.e. yield, output, throughput, and capacity) to improve production results. Develop systems to monitor and report on the process parameters.
Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. Conduct product flow evaluations and implement process improvements to maximize efficiencies in new and established processes. Proactively identify processing bottlenecks and activities to ensure compliance with approved production plans.
Support production personnel in solving quality and production problems. Analyze processes and procedures for potential safety and clean room issues. Develop safety procedures, documents, and training, as needed.
Develop management control systems to aid in financial planning and cost analysis, and design production planning and control systems to coordinate activities and ensure product quality. Identify initiatives to reduce or contain cost, improve material flow, evaluate capacity and manage continuous improvement.
Create and control production plans and schedules, refine capacity forecasting and develop new product production plans and schedules. Analyze demand forecasts, inventory levels and production capacity to determine short-range schedules and project long-range critical capacity limitations. Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes. Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
education and experience
A Bachelor's degree in industrial, manufacturing or a related engineering field is required.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in the medical device industry, with at least 3 years of high-volume automated assembly and production, industrial or manufacturing engineering experience.
Proficiency in using statistical process control, blueprints and specifications is required, as is skill in developing tools and fixtures and process flow strategies; including just-in-time, cell manufacturing, Kanban and demand flow.
Must be proficient in the use of LEAN manufacturing and supply chain concepts. Must be able to deal with ambiguity, drive for results, be detail orientated, have change implementation skills, as well as excellent written, listening, and oral communication skills.
Must be action oriented with demonstrated customer focus and problem solving skills and be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office software, including MS Project.
SAP knowledge and experience is preferred.
The ME must be able to work well under pressure, be assertive but respectful, and handle sensitive and confidential information. This position requires a strong work ethic, planning and organizing skills, sound judgment, a continuous improvement mindset, attention to detail, excellent time and document management skills and the drive to complete and follow-through for completeness, excellent people skills and a consistently positive manner in interacting with others. Must be organized and must be able to work on multiple projects with a minimum of supervision and meet established timelines.
