SMITH/Associates is searching for a qualified candidate to fill a National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) Specialist position in support of the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) & Fort Polk Mission Support Element (MSE) G3 at Fort Polk, LA.
REQUIREMENTS
Must have or be able to obtain a common access card (CAC)
Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited University
Organization, Task, Project and Time Management skills
Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of applications (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
Previous experience working with the military (prior active duty or military spouse preferred)
Previous J3, G3 or S3 (Plans and Operations) experience preferred
Experience executing identical or similar activities as described in the Job Description below
JOB DESCRIPTION
The candidate selected for this position will:
Support the coordination of the multiple internal stakeholders supporting the acquisition of property by the Army to expand training areas at Ft. Polk.
Provide operational review and coordination services for land purchase efforts, initiatives and activities at Fort Polk, Louisiana. The candidate will work directly for the Mission Support Element (MSE) G3 as a key member of the Land Purchase Cell.
Provide guidance and coordination with the land purchase community outreach coordinator and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) liaison, coordinator and technical reviewer. Provide guidance and feedback to team members regarding data and analysis needs. Provide operational awareness to the MSE G3 regarding current and emerging program requirements, projected areas of concern, and status updates. Assess and report progress of overall land purchase efforts to the MSE G3. Provide continuous coordination and reports, ensuring all programs and services are on track and potential shortfalls are identified early.
Be responsible for development of land purchase plans, timelines, and briefings while ensuring quality and timely development of program lines of effort and applicable courses of action. Develop broad-ranging, specific program initiative strategies. Assist with consultation and planning between installation directorates for preparation and execution of land purchase proposed actions and alternatives.
Assist in developing plans and special projects in the realm of the MSE G3 land acquisition cell. Assist in compiling a compendium of best practices and lessons learned on the land acquisition process for distribution to other Army installations. Perform other duties as required.
Conduct research and coordinate with subject-matter specialists and others with valuable information which will assist JRTC and Fort Polk in the achievement of strategic land purchase initiatives. Gather and assess data through literature, internet, doctrinal, regulatory and other sources to prepare informational briefings, command updates, and in-progress reviews as required. Identify projected areas of concern and issues for development, and establish lines of effort within the MSE G3. Assist Fort Polk staff in scheduling and executing meetings and consultations with State and Federal regulators as necessary.
