L.L.Bean is currently seeking a Product Developer for our Kid''s category. The successful candidate will support the design, merchandising and sourcing teams by maintaining the product development process as it relates to process, systems, samples and quality execution.
Market Research
Participates in:
Market and customer research through focus groups, vendor/mill visits and field testing.
Provides input to research and testing, quality and fit specifications to maintain product quality.
Partner with Design on product trends and innovation - through competitor and market research and travel to trade shows.
Planning
Participates in:
Working with raw materials to identify new fabric development needs. Provide fabric development needs to mills and/or raw materials suppliers to develop materials that meet strategic direction and cost
Core Work
Participates in:
Ensuring Corporate Merchant''s vision is met through development of products that meet cost and margin targets, including attention to: materials, construction, fit, wear/lab testing, performance and function.
Managing multiple product categories - outerwear, apparel and accessories.
Developing/driving calendar to meet development timelines, production plans and delivery schedules for products and raw materials. Monitor to ensure all deadlines are met.
Partnering with Design, Sourcing and Merchandising to determine vendors, ensuring best price, construction, quality, design and cost/value relationship standards.
Partnering with Sourcing to review product costing, negotiate pricing and provide input to vendor performance management.
Managing relationship with vendors to ensure product standards are met while maintaining cost and efficiency of process.
Ordering and tracking to ensure photo samples are received in a timely manner.
Maintaining systems to support of the development process.
Providing input to product research and testing, quality and fit specification to maintain product quality and reduce return rates.
Incorporating packaging and hang-tag requirements into product specifications.
Resolving problems and trouble shooting issues as they arise.
Maintaining consistent flow of information to key partners including Merchandising, Design, Sourcing and Technical Design to ensure that key aspects of the product are clearly communicated.
Providing support and coordination for the team.
Communicating to cross-department group.
Additional duties as assigned
Health and Safety Requirement: Ensures compliance with the L.L.Bean Comprehensive Health and Safety program by knowing and following all safety guidelines, policies, procedures and expectations. Take immediate and appropriate action to rectify any unsafe conditions.
BA/BS or equivalent required
2-3 years of relevant experience required
Product and institutional process knowledge preferred
Kid''s product development experience preferred
Mature oral and written communication skills
Exceptional organizational skills with extreme attention to detail
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while effectively meeting deadlines
Work efficiently without direct supervision
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, database utilization skills
Team player with ability to work effectively with diverse personalities
Must be able to handle difficult situations in a calm, professional manner
Creative problem solving abilities

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
