## Position Description
Introduction:
The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a M&S; Software Engineer/Analyst.
Job Summary : The Combat System and Development Group (A3B) of the Air and Missile Defense Department (AMDD) is seeking a M&S; Software Engineer/Analyst to participate in the development of models/simulations for assessing self defense combat system performance.
Duties (Listed in order of importance with the estimated amount of time spent at each task): 1. Develop models/simulations of combat system capabilities, such as command and control functions, radar systems and weapons systems. (40%)
2. Participate in M&S; team activities as a subject matter expert. Prepare and present briefs as required. (20%)
3. Analyze model performance and collaborate with subject matter experts to refine model requirements. (20%)
4. Participate in formal test activities, assessing and documenting model performance. (20%)

## Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
BS in engineering, computer science, math or physics (or equivalent). Highly motivated, self-starter comfortable working in a team environment. Excellent communications skills. Eager to meet challenging design problems in existing systems. Creative problem solver with strong research and analytical skills. At least three years experience with Navy/USMC/Air Force/Army combat systems, data links, command and control (C2) systems, or related technologies. Experience with software development. Experience with radars used on Navy surface ships.

Qualifications:
At least five years experience with Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), AEGIS or CEC requirements, development, analysis, or test and evaluation. Masters degree in engineering, computer science, math or physics. At least five years experience in software development using languages such as Java, C++, C or Ada. Experience with modeling and simulation of combat systems and/or radar systems. Experience with DoD''s system engineering lifecycle. Experience with data analysis/reduction of a complex real-time system.
Special Working Conditions: Occasional travel for meetings, program reviews and conferences. Some work may be after normal working hours or at government facilities.
Security: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
