As an Information Technology (IT) Specialist, you are a valued member of a dynamic team. This position is located in the Division of Systems Storage Management (DSSM). The employee serves as an IT Specialist assisting in activities associated with data storage management at Headquarters, SSA Data Centers, Program Service Centers, associated Field Offices throughout the United States and its territories. Assignments consist of varying accountability and complexity within the following broad functional data storage management categories. Specifically, the employee will be assigned as the technical lead in one or more of the following functional areas: (1) Mainframe or open systems computer infrastructure planning, budgeting, design, configuration, implementation, deployment, performance and monitoring of data storage devices for data storage management. (2) Backup and Recovery including, but not limited to, data storage management, mainframe and/or open systems storage backup and recovery, data archival and remote vaulting. (3) Data replication management necessary to implement and maintain data synchronization between geographically dispersed data centers.
Additionally, employee may be required to work irregular hours and/or on weekends and keep and carry a paging device, cell phone, or Blackberry and a laptop/notebook computer.
This position will be filled at the National Support Center in Urbana, MD.
