Project Controls Engineer Duties and Responsibilities
Lead technical engineer in development of the controls and/or the mechanical systems, as required, to best achieve project goals.
Prepare and/or direct preparation of controls drawings in adherence to applicable customer specifications and Company standards prior to submission to the Project Engineer.
Schedule and attend design reviews, subcontractor line-up meetings and progress reviews on all team projects. Authority to make changes, as required, to best achieve project goals.
Assure the project Scope of Work is clearly defined and approve project changes prior to submission to the customer.
Responsible for overall project(s) technical performance, including quality, profit and adherence to schedule.
Assist with performance appraisals for all team members.
Interview prospective team members.
Assist other team members in difficult phases of a project.
Assist Applications Engineering, as required.
Direct the activities of the Controls Design Engineers, as required.
Manage the electrical build on the assembly floor, as required.
Evaluate problems, determine corrective actions, set plans, execute plans and develop root cause analyses.
Provide debug assistance on the assembly floor, through customer acceptance.
Provide controls assistance to the Technical Writer to help compile data needed for operators and maintenance manuals.
Travel to international and domestic customer facilities, as required.
Assist in efforts across other teams or departments to assure success of all projects.
Aid in the development and training of other team members.
Project Controls Engineer Education and Experience
Technical degree.
7 years minimum experience in machine controls design and engineering related to special production machinery.
3 years minimum experience in technically leading simultaneous projects and/or large projects.
3 years minimum experience in a leadership or supervisory position.
2 years minimum experience using CAD.
Computer skills: Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
Preferred Education and Experience
B.Sc./B. Electrical Engineering
10 years experience in machine controls design and engineering related to special production machinery.
7 years experience in technically leading simultaneous projects and/or large projects.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
