The Manager posses the ability to assume full responsibility for directing engagements and special assignments and has the enhanced capability of supervising a number of engagements simultaneously. The Manager oversees the performance of client service and all related activity. The incumbent can perform all tasks related to client services and ensures that assignments are accomplished by the engagement team within the budgeted time. This role takes on responsibility for the professional and technical development of the staff through on-the-job interaction and leading in-house training. Additionally, the Manager begins to develop a list of potential referral sources in an effort to bring new business to the Firm and is involved in community activities for the purposes of business development and cross-selling the Firm's services. In addition to engagement functions, the Manager will be called upon for a variety of special assignments and for participation in the Firm's internal programs. At this level, the incumbent should be developing expertise in one or more specific industry or functional/technical areas.
Essential Responsibilities
o Provide professional tax services to firm clients in areas of individual, small business and corporate tax in various industries; experience in oil and gas taxation is a plus o Review of complex tax returns, technical assistance, tax planning and research on tax issues o Assist in the development and training of new staff as well as business development opportunities Conducts and supervises field work. o Monitors workload on a weekly basis to ensure work for the coming week. o Completes all financial statements, tax returns and special service engagements. o Reviews reports, statements and returns upon completion. o Reviews research of tax issues as appropriate; formulates resolution of issues identified through the research process. o Informs engagement Director of the status of the engagement and other pertinent aspects of the engagement. o Maintains client contact throughout the year as is required by the nature of the engagement. o Plans engagements to achieve quality goals and reduces time required to perform an engagement. o Recognizes opportunities to provide additional services to new or existing clients. o Continues the development of a network for future practice development opportunities. o Prepares time budgets. o Assists in the appropriate billing and collection of fees from clients. o Monitors billable hours and compares to target billable hour goals on a regular basis. o Maintains the required CPE for firm and licensing standards.
o Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that customer confidentiality is assured. o Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives. o Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the firm. o Performs other services as required.
Skills, Education, and/or Experience Required:
o Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field o 150 hours of college credit is required. o CPA designation is required. o 5
years of relevant position experience is preferred. o Experience in a public accounting or professional services firm environment is preferred. o Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of individuals. o Ability to deal effectively with interpersonal relationships. o Must possess a high degree of professionalism including the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality. o Must be computer literate with the capability of performing at an intermediate or advanced level with respect to Microsoft Office Suite of products or similar software applications. o Must be highly organized and capable of performing multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. o Critical thinking skill capabilities are essential. o Knowledge of Internal Revenue Code and Regulations is required. o Light to moderate amounts of lifting, kneeling, bending, sitting and walking is required. Lifting requirements will not typically exceed 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus to work with computers. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
