Owner of site industrial hygiene systems. Maintains and continually improve industrial hygiene systems to assess and reduce employee exposure to occupational health stressors.
Identifies, analyzes and controls occupational hazards and promotes worksite or product safety by applying knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, psychology, physiology, and industrial health and safety laws.
Administration of the Exposure Assessment Process, including:
Conduct qualitative/quantitative IH assessments,
Develop short and long-term IH initiatives in alignment with company directives,
Select proper control solutions to reduce occupational risks.
Administration of the Chemical Approval Process
Providing expertise and assistance to work groups in developing and implementing compliance systems, programs, policies and procedures to ensure occupational exposures are adequately controlled and or eliminated.
Reviews proposed industrial hygiene and safety policies, guidelines, and standards to determine their consistency with accepted engineering principles and practices, and recommends technical changes as needed.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities :
Understanding of chemistry, chemical processing, industrial hygiene, and safety management systems.
Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral formats.
Ability to investigate incidents and failures to identify root causal factors and effective solutions.
Ability to independently develop strategic plans to meet goals and milestones.
Ability to analyze data to identify causal relationships.
Knowledge of US Regulations (OSHA General Industry) and recommended best practices and standards (NIOSH, AGCIH, Etc.)
Chemical sampling knowledge and techniques
Familiarity with Industrial Hygiene Instrumentation
Desire to spend time in a manufacturing facility, with frequent contact with management, first-line supervision, and hourly employees.
Basic Knowledge of occupational stressors to include (heat stress, chemicals, radiation, ergonomic, noise, biological hazards, etc.)
Ability to write and revise procedures, write program summaries, deliver management presentations, assist with the training delivery, collect and interpret and program metrics, and communicate effectively in the workforce.
Strong initiative to achieve desired results
Willing and able to act as after-hours EHS contact when needed
4-Year degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, or related degree, or combination of relevant education and experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Professional Certifications: Certified Industrial Hygienist strongly preferred, Certified Safety Professional is a plus
Experience with PPE assessments and developing a PPE matrix accordingly
Experience executing cold eye reviews and ability to identify risks and implement resources for site wide injury reduction and risk tolerance.
Hands-on experience with managing and IH program within a chemical manufacturing facility.
Experience with project review and implementation to ensure occupational exposures are identified and mitigated
Ability to lead and support Root Cause Investigations
Understanding of Behavioral Safety or similar initiatives that seek to improve culture, instill responsibility/accountability, and improve overall safety performance
