Description of Position: This person will be responsible for providing operational database support to AutoNation. The incumbent primary responsibilities of this role would include owning, tracking and resolving SQL data base related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLA, reviewing service-related reports (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, monitoring, ETL(Extract, Transform, Load) status) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs, responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with database engineering to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.
Organizational Relationships: This person will be part of the IT Operations team and will be working closely with the Senior SQL DBA to implement solutions under broad guidelines, with minimum supervision and with all IT groups and technology partners and vendors.
Primary Job
Responsibilities:
- Maintain all databases required for development and testing, staging and production
- Reduction of the frequency and duration of IT database failures
- Perform ongoing tuning of database instances
- Builds and provides actionable reports in support of performance testing to be submitted to the project teams to review and provide follow up actions to ensure optimum support to meet SLAs
-Provides problem and root cause analysis data to the IT support organization through capacity management tools and techniques
-Plan and implement backup and recovery of Microsoft SQL Server database
-Controls migrations of database changes through the development life cycle
-Perform database re-organizations as required to assist performance and ensure uptime of the database.
-Put standards in place to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security and performance. The DBA will perform reviews on the design and code frequently to ensure the site standards are being adhered to
-Evaluate releases of Microsoft SQL Server and its tools, and third party products to ensure that the enterprise is running products that most appropriate. Planning is also performed by the DBA, along with the application developers, database engineers and system administrators, to ensure that new product usage or release upgrades take place with minimal impact.
-Provide technical support to application development teams. The DBA is usually the point of contact for Microsoft SQL Server technical issues
-Assist with impact analysis of any changes made to the database objects
-Troubleshoot with problems regarding the databases, applications and development tools
-Create new database users as required
-Manage sharing of resources amongst applications

Minimum
Qualifications:
-5
Years' experience with Database Administration for MSSQL Server
-Experience with administering databases greater than 5 TB.
-Experience in troubleshooting and resolving problems (performance issues, database integrity issues, blocking and deadlocking issues)
-Experience in troubleshooting SSIS packages.
-Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
-Experience with Microsoft SQL Server backup and recovery scenarios
-Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server 2008and up, including failover clustering and log shipping
-Experience with Microsoft SQL Server replication
-Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
-Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.
-Excellent communication and documentation skills.
-Experience with migrating Microsoft SQL Server databases, instances and versions.
-Experience with developing advanced maintenance routines.
-Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
-Experience with developing operational SSRS reports.
-Strong analytical and problem determination skills.
-Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server security management
-Self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.
-Degree BA/BS in Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred
Qualifications:
-MS SQL CertificationEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
