Key Deliverables of Position:
Implement a measurement philosophy. Moving away from an inspection philosophy that only leaves you with good or bad results towards a measurement philosophy that provides actual results. Then automate the collection, statistical analysis, and presentation of the results in a way that is useable by the operator & mfg. engineers.
Implement automated measurement technology that will allow inspection of all characteristics as they are being manufactured within the cycle time of the operation. Resulting in reduced inspection labor by the machinist, no parts going to floor inspection and sitting in queue, no dimensional inspections by final inspectors, reduced gage inventory, reduce gage calibration labor, and eliminate the possibility of entire orders being nonconforming for an out of tolerance characteristic.
Utilize statistical methods to analyze inspection data and make recommendations for process improvements.
Improve the process to achieve a capability at or below 75% of print tolerance for all characteristics.
Reduce inspection frequency based on the expected percent defective
Facilitate and uses PFMEA (Failure Modes Effects Analysis) to establish approval criteria to identify quality failure concerns for both manufactured parts and assemblies
Facilitate cross-functional teams to implement corrective action and continuous improvement.
Document processes (manuals, flow chart, work instruction, etc.).
