Summary:
The Credit Manager works closely with the Regional Credit Manager and the Credit Department to ensure we are optimizing our mix of sales while minimizing our overall bad debt losses. In addition, this role is responsible for implementing and maintaining sound credit policies and processes to ensure the prompt and efficient collection of accounts receivable (AR). In the absence of the Regional Credit Manager, the Credit Manager provides oversight and guidance to the credit team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide oversight and guidance to the credit team in the Regional Credit Manager's absence.
Establishes and monitors customer credit limits, handles special credit arrangements and deviations from standard terms of payment within approved authority.
Provide the Regional Credit Manager with recommendations for establishing or increasing customer credit lines and appropriate methods to secure the company's assets.
Provide the Regional Credit Manager with financial status reports as required and/or requested.
Handle large or risky credit situations directly, or in partnership with the Credit Manager and/or divisional management.
Works with collection agencies to ensure maximum collections at minimum cost.
Ensure credit files and job accounts requests are completely documented according to company policies and procedures prior to submitting to the Regional Credit Manager for review and approval.
Oversee document gathering and distribution for legal and collection agencies.
Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree, or five years of credit related experience, or an equivalent level/combination or education and/or experience.
Strong knowledge and experience with payment bonds for public projects, mechanics liens and collections laws.
Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
Strong skills in the areas of oral and written communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, and problem resolution.
Must be willing to work extended hours to meet department goals, as necessary.
Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks and maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to perform and adapt in a changing environment as necessary.
Ability to develop and maintain solid working relationships with internal and external customers.
Ability to assess risk and make recommendations for actions to protect the Company's assets.
Ability to recognize financial implications of business decisions and strategy
Ability to maintain good public relations with external and internal customers.
Strong organization skills and sense of urgency.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
