Food From The Hart (FFTH), is a Nonprofit Organization our goal is to assure that kid ages 18 and under have access to nutritious meals during the summer months. When school is not in session, FFTH provides meals at various designated sites in the Kansas City area.
Qualifications :
Experience: Possess working knowledge of kitchen procedures and food safety. Maintain professional and clean appearances at all times abiding by state food handlers code of ethics. Able to use, take apart, clean and reassemble kitchen equipment. Possess knowledge of nutritional guidelines that meet the Department of Education meal pattern requirements and their reporting requirements. Have a basic knowledge of janitorial procedures. Maintain confidentiality of all clients.
Personal: The ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner. The ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
Summary:
The Summer Food Service Cook is responsible to manage the planning and operations of the Food From The Hart Summer Food Service Program, support of organizational mission and goals; to work with the Food From The Hart Officers, administrative and program staff in providing food service, implementing procedures that will insure the most efficient use of resources and insuring the program functions within the constraints of the resources available; and to provide direction to staff, volunteers, students and program participants in carrying out the roles assigned to them.

Definition of
Responsibilities:
1. Implement administrative and operational systems to support effective operations and delivery of the summer food service program.
2. Maintain an environment that facilitates the achievement of program development outcomes.
3. Establish and monitor adherence to policies and procedures.
4. Provide guidance and training to staff and volunteers.
5. Ensure the summer food service program is run within budgeted amount.
6. Possess knowledge of nutritional guidelines that meet the SFSP Meal requirements.
Responsible for completing all Missouri/Kansas Summer Foods Program reporting requirements.
7. Ensure productive and effective staff, volunteer and participant performance, providing guidance, feedback and opportunities for development.
8. Develop collaborative partnerships with other service organizations, members, parents, families, and community organizations to increase attendance to the summer food service program.
9. Increase visibility of Food From The Hart programs, services and activities and maintain good public relations.
10. Prep, Cook and prepare meals that meet the Missouri Summer Foods Program guidelines.
11. Maintain a clean and functional workspace at all times.
12. Other duties as may be assigned.
Working Conditions:
Will require a criminal history information check. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude employment. The circumstances involved in the conviction(s) will be considered.
Will require a motor vehicle record check. Must have a valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
The following equipment is used: institutional kitchen equipment (ovens, grill, and sanitizer, etc), motor vehicles, and telephone.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand 8 hours a day five (5) days a week on hard surface. Able to walk, sit, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
Work with minimum supervision and work involves a high degree of independence. May be required to make independent decisions that may involve unique or unusual situations and/or complex issues and dealing with demanding requests and/or timelines.
Regular and punctual attendance is essential functions of this position.
This position has access to confidential and private information. It is essential that confidentiality and privacy be observed.

It is expected that each employee will be familiar with The Summer Foods Program Nutritional Guide Handbook for Missouri/Kansas. Questions regarding its contents can be directed toward the immediate supervisor.
