Under the direction of the Manager, Infection Prevention and Control, the Infection Preventionist assists in the coordination of the infection control program which encompasses surveillance, prevention and control of infection. The Infection Preventionist is a professional nurse who assists with ensuring compliance with state, federal and TJC standards relating to infection prevention and control.
Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Minimum bachelor's degree in related field preferred, individuals with relevant experience will be considered. Attendance at APIC courses Epi 101 and Epi 201 required within two years of entering the position. Certification (CIC) by the Certification Board for Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) required within three years of entering the position.
Minimum three (3) years experience in acute care setting or Laboratory. Must possess strong organizational skills; clinical knowledge base; strong interpersonal skills; statistical ability; policy and procedure development skills; ability to teach.
