The Forbush School at Prince George''s County, a 12 month program,provides special education and related services to children ages five to twenty-one with autism, pervasive development disorder (PDD), developmental delays in one or more areas, and other related disorders. The school serves up to 42 students. The Forbush School at Prince George''s County islocated in Capitol Heights, Maryland (Prince George''s County).
The Forbush School at Prince George''s County is looking to hire a qualified Educational Assistant. The Educational Assistant provides overall assistance in the classroom to support the teacher and/or work with an assigned student in a one-to-one relationship. This individual is responsible for providing additional structure, supervision, and instruction to assist the teacher in achieving the goals and objectives of the student's Individual Education Program (IEP). The Educational Assistant works independently within the guidelines and direction of the supervising teacher providing educational support and behavior management; documents student progress; and serves as an escort to students during school or program activities. Bachelor's prepared Educational Assistants may be responsible for leading classroom activities in the absence of the supervising teacher.
High school diploma required -bachelor''s degree and experience workingin special education and/or with individuals with autism/severe behavioral and academic issues strongly preferred. Work requires physical preparedness to effectively manage and physically restrain aggressive students. Work requires potential exposure to risk of physical injury from combative and assaultive students. Salary determined by experience and education.
