Department Summary Business Technology Solutions (BTS), is Consumers Energy''s IT department. We are looking for strong project managers to join our team. A project manager applies an intensive and diversified knowledge of project management principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields; makes decisions independently on project management problems and methods; and represents the organization in meetings to resolve important questions. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of his/her field and related sciences and disciplines. Typically is responsible for projects or portions of projects $2M-$5M. Job Description/Responsibilities The Project Manager leads and manages IT projects. The role manages, supports, and assists all aspects of a project from origination through the final implementation and closing, ensuring governance process adherence, project continuity, and stakeholder management. The Project Manager develops project budgets, schedules and is responsible for performance against those parameters and monitoring and reporting on projects. She/he has responsibility for overall coordination, status reporting and stability of project oriented work efforts working very closely with the rest of the Organization and Sponsors. The Project Manager is responsible for tracking key project milestones and adjusting project plans and/or resources to meet the needs of the project. The Project Manager is responsible for assembling project plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, and escalating associated risks, issues and change requests appropriately. The role oversees the work of project based resources and assists with performance reviews. Project Managers utilize the corporate and department specific project management processes and methodologies to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet business partner expectations. Project Managers provide feedback to the Project Management Office, PMO, and/or the Enterprise Project Management Office, EPMO, for recommendations for process improvement and for capturing lessons learned for sharing across the organization. Project Managers are also responsible for ensuring that the organizational change management activities (the people side of change) are planned for and implemented. Requirements/Qualifications
10 or more years of applied IT or equivalent working experience, including significant project management experience
Equivalent experience in lieu of specified majors may be considered
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred; if not certified, employee must obtain certification within 3 years of entering the PM job family
Manage IT projects, including monitoring scope, schedule, cost, quality, dependencies, and benefits throughout the project lifecycle
Develop, baseline and maintain project plans, including and financial forecasts
Responsible for performance against financial targets
