The Research Scientist will provide scientific and technical support to management of research projects and oversee multiple concurrent solicitations, proposal review processes, contract awards and funding execution at the program level. This position will provide domain expertise and assist in coordinating the efforts of a multi-disciplinary team of government and contract researchers, clinicians, academic experts and consumers to bring all the various projects in their domain together into a cohesive effort.
Duties:
Shall provide Medical R&D Senior Scientist Consulting Services to include, but not limited to the following activities:
? Serve as Chair for medical research review proposals for TATRC. Oversee the proposal review process to insure proposals selected for funding are at the highest levels of scientific merit
? Be familiar with Command core research program and gaps, and advise TATRC staff and PIs on research requirements
? Senior Consultant for Blood, Blood Products, Blood Safety and Hemorrhage Control scientific research. Support the Combat Casualty Care portfolio and mission
? Represent Director and Deputy Director, TATRC as scientific and clinical meetings, as required
? Participate in scientific review meetings as required
? Serve as scientific reviewer as needed for proposals, meetings and on ad hoc issues
? Assist CORs/SMEs with assessments of quality of science for TATRC managed research and provide written feedback to JPC/RADs
? Participate in management of SBIR/STTR program
Qualifications:
? PhD or MD degree
? At least 15 years of medical research experience
? Publication in peer reviewed journals
? Experience with advanced medical technologies, preferred
? Knowledge of military system, preferred.
? Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication
? Must be organized, attentive to detail, and posses a positive, friendly and professional
demeanor
? Ability to be flexible with changing priorities and available to interact with employees,
clients and sponsors of all levels
? Ability to exercise independent judgment in fast-paced, high-pressured environment with strict
deadlines and to manage multiple projects
? Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results
? Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Excel and other
Microsoft Office Software
