CSS has an opening for a program analyst supporting the NOAA National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science in Silver Spring, MD. The analyst responsibilities include the following:
Serve as analyst and coordinator for specific program, policy and/or communication actions
Develop and maintain common strategic communications tools to enhance information sharing across NCCOS operating units as it pertains to external partnerships and engagement with agency leadership, legislative tracking, and Congressional briefing materials.
Draft and edit stories and topics for NOS weekly reports, NCCOS website and social media.
Support NCCOS Director, as needed, with preparations and planning for strategic presentations, cross-NOAA, interagency, academic and other external committee and collaboration roles.
Support NCCOS Headquarters in program planning, budget formulation and evaluation process, including routine evaluation of NCCOS contributions to Annual Operating Plan milestones, performance measures and accomplishments.
Supports development of annual NCCOS Communications Action Plan.
Implement short and long-term special projects as needs arise.
Bachelor's degree in public policy, marine or environmental science or related field with a minimum of three years' experience in a writing/editing or communications capacity or Master's degree and 1 year experience
Experience with strategic or project planning and implementation
Self-motivated, creative and energetic with an ability to work well individually and cooperatively with a range of individuals
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and to shift priorities as neededDemonstrates ability to work effectively with a diverse team of scientists, managers and policy experts
