Principal Project Controls Engineer/Specialist - (Cost) - Annapolis Junction, MD

DESCRIPTION:
Develops, implements and maintains cost control, and/or provides centralized planning and scheduling function on smaller construction projects worth less than $10 million total installed cost, or assists a more senior Project Control Engineer/Specialist with assigned segments of larger projects. At this level, the Project Control Engineer/
Specialist has sufficient training, technical expertise and familiarity with company policies and procedures to work mostly independently on assigned projects.
Provides guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult and complex project control problems, with respect to costs/finances on the project. Interfaces with clients, attends regular meetings, and provides statistical reports.
Prepares graphs, diagrams, and other exhibits to illustrate cost status and forecast requirements for Project Management and client.
Performs analytical review and arithmetic checks of cost reporting documentation.
Provides project and company management with the necessary tools for project cost control. May participate in the development of the work breakdown structure, interfacing with all affected departments.
May lead a team who are qualified to analyze, evaluate, and forecast project costs and performance. Coordinates staffing requirements, assigns and supervises project work activities, and trains personnel. Completes performance reviews and provides personnel development for the assigned employees.
Identifies, reconciles, and explains cost and schedule variances across departments and systems. Provides early identification of deviations from budget, through scope change, trending and analysis. .Accumulates and accesses historical data, such as performance experience, for use in maintaining a realistic basis for future planning and forecasting.
Customizes project control systems to meet specific project requirements.
May serve as a Chief Project Control Engineer, if project requirements dictate.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications

Qualifications:
4-year degree in Engineering, Business or Construction Management (or related field) and 5-10 years of related project cost controls work experience. Prefer candidates with experience managing costs/financials for facility construction/facility upgrade projects valued at up to $10M.

Prefer experience in Project controls for facility construction and facility upgrades.

Prefer experience with PRISM and CostPoint.

US Citizenship required. Must have or have ability to obtain TS/SCI security clearance with full scope polygraph examination. Prefer local candidates.
Proficient PC skills including a proficiency in various software used in the Project Controls Department, such as Excel, and Primavera.
Leadership potential, as well as familiarity with industry practices is required.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
