OCSD is currently looking to fill the role of an Assistant Engineer.
Under direct supervision, the Assistant Engineer performs a variety of diverse and complex engineering assignments; manages assigned projects; reviews and evaluates drawings and designs; reviews and investigates compliance regulations; prepares compliance documents; and provides technical assistance to staff. Specifically, this person will participate with the operational optimization efforts for Plant 1 and Plant 2 pertaining, but not limited to: chemical usage, preliminary treatment, primary treatment, digestion, dewatering, secondary treatment, as well as the odor control operations at both treatment facilities. The Assistant Engineer will spend significant time in the field performing systems testing and working closely with field operations staff. This individual will work closely with engineers, scientists and field operations staff to optimize and troubleshoot assigned process units. Responsibilities include: establishing field testing plans; conducting related chemical, mechanical, and hydraulic testing; assisting with the odor control process; testing protocols; documentation writing; overseeing contracts pertaining to grit, screenings and process chemicals; performing engineering calculations and research; producing operational and engineering studies; assisting in air balancing and odor control modeling efforts; and training of operations staff.
The position requires a Bachelors degree from a college or university which is accredited by the US Department of Education, with major coursework in engineering, or a related field; and one (1) year of engineering experience. This position requires solid understanding of the following: principles, practices, policies, and procedures of engineering, mathematics, and environmental science; operations of wastewater management systems and flow regimes; principles of air dispersion, fate-transport, interceptor odor, and health risk analysis modeling; principles and techniques of project management, contract negotiation, and/or administration; and modern office practices and technology, including personal computer hardware and software applications. Experience in design drawings and specifications documentation, RFP and SOW language and composition, and engineering and construction cost estimating is preferred. The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of wastewater treatment operations, manufacturing systems, and/or complex chemical/biological production processes; the ability to prepare, understand, and interpret field testing protocols, process engineering calculations, and operational/engineering studies; and excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience in the operations and/or commissioning of wastewater facilities is highly desired. The selected candidate must possess a valid California Class C Drivers license by time of appointment.

Hiring Salary Range: $81,286.40 - $89,606.40/year

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
