Summary
Provide research and media relations support.
Purpose and Mission
The media relations intern will be a full member of the media relations team during the internship, participating in messaging meetings, staff meetings and planning events. During this experience, the media relations intern will observe how the media relations team works with the array of internal stakeholders to craft communications plans that serve the needs of our more than 900 cooperative members.
draft press releases and content for ;
monitor media (including social media) coverage of NRECA issues;
research media contact lists;
build media contact lists;
attend public events, including hearings on Capitol Hill;
help the media relations unit prepare for 2014 regional meetings.
Requirements and Qualifications
Public Relations, Political Science, Journalism or English degree progam
Excellent written and oral communication skills;
Social media experience;
An interest in politics, policy and media.
This is an intern position.
3.0 or above GPA required and Must be a rising junior or senior
Dates: May 19th thru August 8th, 2014
Wages: $17 per hour
