Job Description

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, a member of the Knorr-Bremse Group, develops and supplies leading-edge active safety technologies, energy management solutions, a full range of wheel end components and systems, plus integrated vehicle modules, air brake charging systems, controls & components for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, tractors, trailers, buses and other commercial vehicles in North America, Europe and Australia.


Develop and modify control system logic to support Electronic Systems, including Antilock braking, stability control and driver assistance/adaptive cruise control systems installed on commercial vehicles
Create Software for Embedded systems and tools that support Embedded systems
Provide technical support in troubleshooting control system software
Support/lead the application of Electronic Systems for OEM customers
Analyze and document results from simulation and test track experiments
Calibrate vehicle control algorithms to meet customer expectations
Communicate requirements and test results to OEM customers in a concise, professional manner
Develop and execute technical plans (analysis, simulation, vehicle test) to validate system installation and parameter tuning
Apply vehicle knowledge to improve vehicle simulation tools including both non-real time and Hardware In the Loop (HIL) simulation
Prototype new control algorithms
Benchmark competitive systems
Interface with Software Developers, Systems Engineers, and customers to create control system requirements
Travel to test track, winter test facility and customer demos to support algorithm specific development and testing
Represent Bendix in professional groups such as SAE, IEEE
Required Skills

Familiar with product quality tools such as design and system FMEA & DVP&R
Demonstrated problem-solving skills in a team environment
Able to handle multiple conflicting priorities and interface with sales, marketing, and engineering
Ability to work in a cross-functional team in a dynamic working environment including international team members
Ideal candidate is able to lead a team of people to achieve project milestones or implement customer requirements.
Ideal candidate is a self-starter with demonstrated project management skills.
Ability to effectively communicate with others, within and with diverse cultures, both independently and within teams and with cross-functional teams in coordinating and prioritizing development

Desired Skills

Familiar in the use of Matlab/Simulink, ASCET, MatrixX/System Build or similar control system development tools
Familiar with CANalyzer, CANape and Matlab
Familiar with dSpace, XPC Target, ETAS or other simulation interface hardware
Familiarity with C-programming for embedded systems preferred
Familiar with in-circuit emulators to analyze existing control code desirable
Broad automotive and electronic systems knowledge, preferably related to heavy truck.
Vehicle dynamics knowledge and familiar with vehicle simulations such as TruckSim and CarSim
Required Experience

Bachelor Degree or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering required. Focus on Control systems preferred

years of experience, preferably in the automotive or commercial vehicle industry
Experience with Automotive Control Systems
Hands on mechanical, electrical, automotive experience
Commercial Driver License (CDL) or willingness & capability to obtain CDL within a year of employment
Willing to travel (test track, winter test, customer locations, internationally) as required up to 20%
