Overview:
Supervise and provide leadership to intra-department groups of chemists/scientists/technicians in the Research & Development (R & D) department. Provide guidance and leadership on behalf of the R&D department with other company functions i. e. Operations, Product Management & Marketing, Technical Services, Process Engineering, Quality Assurance and Quality Control, Procurement, Finance. Facilitate the collaboration of chemists/scientist to benefit the development of new products as well as the enhancement of existing products.

Essential Job Functions &
Responsibilities:
1. Supervise Chemists/Scientists; evaluate their work on an annual basis and set work and training goals annually.
2. Ensure definition and timely delivery of developments as agreed upon (RLS).
3. Communicate with other functions/departments, i.e.: Marketing, Technical Service, Production, Human Resources, and Sales, and facilitate the interaction between R & D and the related functions.
4. Prepare and conduct DFMEA analysis together with R & D team members for a particular development.
5. Stay engaged and educated with respect to testing and analytical capabilities of the R & D department at a level required to properly serve National and International requirements.
6. Effectively document findings, including the accurately write up of findings as well as authoring findings through patents or industry publications.
7. Oversee and contribute to the integration of new products with other commercial areas, in particular Quality Assurance, legal requirements, Marketing and Manufacturing.
8. Address claims feedback from the market through communication with other departments as well as attend field trials of new products.
9. Coordinate and facilitate internal rollouts of new products.
10. Include and coordinate International R & D activities into the activities of headquarters R & D.
11. Represent the R & D department at tradeshows, trade committees, standardization authorities in the U.S. and around the world through participation and presentation of R & D findings.
12. Drive Cost Out initiatives to ensure the most economical production cost with respect to the expected performance of the product.

Job Specifications/Skills:
1. Solid experience in product development for construction materials (direct industry experience).
2. Proven track record of supervisory experience.
3. Must be able to facilitate demands to R & D and requirements from R & D to other departments.
4. Must be able to lead multi-functional teams.
5. Highly organized, detail-oriented.
6. Strong analytical ability required.
7. Must have experience as a coach to develop R & D individuals and teams.
8. Must be a self-starter and have the ability to multi-task.
9. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of software used at the workplace.
10. Team Cooperation - positive, cooperative, and professional attitude with LATICRETE employees and customers.
11. Bending and reaching to file. Infrequent ability to lift/move up to minimum of 50 pounds.
12. BS in Science required (Master Degree or Ph. D. preferred), or equivalent experience within the construction material industry.
13. Up to 25% domestic and international travel

1. Perform other directly related appropriate duties and assume accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
