Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant ensures the integrity of the financials with appropriate research and analysis and is responsible for the accurate and timely production of month end financial information and supporting schedules.
Job Duties
Follow Get Set for School - Handwriting Without Tear's (GSS - HWT) accounting processes and procedures and maintain strict confidentiality of the company's customer and business transactions.
Facilitate various monthly closing processes for GSS - HWT reconciliations, and review of all transactions.
Provide accounting knowledge and mentorship to the Accounting team by working closely with them to problem solve and improve processes with respect to their daily work.
Work closely with the Planning & Analysis group to research and analyze actual to budget variances.
Maintain fixed and intangible asset reporting and depreciation schedules.
Manage the sales tax return process, including relationship with third party administrator, to ensure timely and accurate filings of sales tax returns in the US and Canada.
Assist with financial and tax audits and correspondence.
Work closely with other groups across the company to ensure accuracy of accounting data.
Recommend and undertake ad hoc projects as the need arises to research and implement improvements or additions to company's policy, processes and procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
Calculate and administer royalty payments.
Document policies, procedures and workflow, as needed.
Perform other administrative related work, as needed.
Requirements:
Required Education/Skill
B.A. or B.S. in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience.
4
years related experience in accounting.
CPA certification preferred.
Experience managing month-end closings required.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once while completing quality work on a timely basis.
Comfort working with sensitive & confidential information; excellent ethics and judgment.
Ability to work independently (with direction) and with a team.
Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with vendors, customers, and co-workers.
Ability to excel in a rapidly changing environment.
Expertise with MS Office (Excel intensive).
Experience with QuickBooks preferred.
Ability to sit for long periods of time; ability to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
