Description;
We are seeking a Senior Systems Analyst to join the Platform Products team in Smithfield, RI. This team primarily supports Fidelity Financial Advisor Solutions' Transfer Agent (TA) system and its related functions. The successful candidate will work as part of a global team (India, Ireland & US) providing analysis (leading requirements and design), input to testing, development and system installations on projects varying in size and scope in support our business partners.
The systems analyst will gather information and organize documents explaining existing processes, define application requirements, work with the developers to define and make recommendations regarding system functionality, and document proposed solutions. He/she will be responsible for analyzing, evaluating, and making written recommendations for implementing improvements to business systems and processes and where applicable researching applications problems as part of root cause determination. The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate must demonstrate a willingness/drive to become a subject matter expert (SME) relative to the suite of functions in the TA space, and the business processes they embody.
Primary Responsibilities
Performs analysis for projects varying in scope, size and complexity (small to large/highly complex)
Determines business needs and impact analysis for proposed functional changes
Helps define and refine user requests for system enhancements, changes, ad hoc needs, production issues, and new development
Works with business analysts, users, technical developers and architects to gather, define and document proposed solutions to the business requirements
Analyzes processes, recommends improvements, and assesses design recommendations
Documents business and technical requirements
Documents technical solutions and creates functional design specifications
Present requirements and technical specifications to project team, advisory review board members and business partners
Performs functional decompositions of existing systems as applicable
Contribute to systems and user acceptance test planning and execution
Drives analysis-related project issues through resolution
Provides individual status reports, including progress and project issues
Identifies potential issues and proposes solutions
Qualifications
Degree in Information Technology or related discipline or 6
years of relevant job experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in a business/systems analysis role, ideally with an emphasis in the financial services industry
Experience working in a Mainframe environment within the financial services industry highly desired
Demonstrated ability to define SQL query statements for data analysis a plus
Strong technical understanding of a project life cycle methodology
Experience with Waterfall development strongly desired
Knowledge and/or experience with Agile development strongly desired
Proven experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements
Proven experience documenting system design specifications
Knowledge of transfer agent operations a plus
Knowledge of mutual fund operations a plus
Ability to adapt to a dynamic business & technical environment
Proficiency with driving the resolution of escalated issues in an effective manner
Demonstrates commitment, tact, and diplomacy
