Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen and possess a current TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
Native language speaker preferred. Performance at level 3 in listening, reading and translation as defined by the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) required, or 3/3 DLPT or equivalent scores within the past year
Must have minimum of 10 years applicable experience.
Prior US Armed Forces uniformed service.
Linguist must possess native or very near native competency in Farsi, i.e. oral fluency and literacy.
Linguist must have an excellent command of the grammar, constructions and syntax of Farsi language.
Linguist shall be abreast of idioms, colloquialisms and slang and have a sophisticated understanding of the cultural, social and political environment in which Farsi is used.
The linguist must be bilingual to the extent that one can produce well-written and accurate gists, summaries, translations, and reports in American English.
Must be able to work independently, as well as in a team setting and interact with customer on a professional level.
Internet research skills and an understanding of telecommunications and computer network communications fundamentalsare desired.
Job Duties:
The Farsi linguist must be capable of preserving and conveying the flavor, nuances and subtleties of the original text.
Must be able to interpret and translate passages that are difficult to understand due to the specific nature or complexity of the language used.
The linguist will have the following
Experience:
Experience providing gists, summaries, extracts, full and verbatim transcripts and English translations of a variety of audio and written materials.
Experience providing on-line assistance to other operational linguists.
Able to perform as quality controller for peers and junior linguists.
Experience and skill providing timely and responsive intelligence support.
