Job Description:
The Personnel Employment Assistant performs as HR specialist within military HR work centers that include Personnel Records, Information Systems and Automation Support, In & Out Processing, DEERS/Identification Card Management, Soldier Readiness Processing, Soldier Actions, Promotion Processing, Reassignment Processing, Trainee/Student Personnel Actions, Casualty and Line of Duty Management, Strength Management, Administrative Services (including Official Mail and Distribution), Transition Processing, and Retirement Services.
DUTIES:
Expert in HR core competencies that include that include handling routine and complex customer inquiries via telephone and email.
Proficiency required across a full spectrum of HR task areas, such as conducting briefings on a variety of HR topics, accessing standard, automated HR systems, reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and providing timely and courteous customer service.
Handles customer inquiries via telephone and email, conducts Soldier interviews, in-processes and out-processes Soldiers using a standard checklist, accesses standard automated systems such as eMILPO, TOPMIS II, iPERMS, EDAS, INPROC/OUTPROC, TRANSPROC III.
Updates emergency casualty documents and enlisted/officer data elements, scans and transmits document images for electronic filing, performs DEERS administration and issues Command Access Cards (CAC) from the RAPIDS system.
Screens reassignment rosters and processes military personnel for reassignment, prepares military orders, processes routine personnel actions and applications, prepares separation documentation, handles official mail, and maintains local administrative files.
May serve as Functional Administrator.
Independent processing of various types of personnel actions, e.g., temporary employment, rehires, and dismissals.
May perform tasks such as: pre-employment drug screening, new hire orientation, responding to routine questions on policy and procedures, and/or provide reports on employee turnover or time and attendance.
May provide guidance to lower level Personnel Assistants.
This level requires extensive knowledge of various office software packages.
Demonstrates expert knowledge of HQDA governing directives, HR policies, and installation operating procedures.
May be asked to evaluate and consolidate information from various sources under short deadlines, such as internal or external survey information, reporting on company employment statistics (retention, equal opportunity re porting, etc).
Researches records, policy, directives, regulations and/or other historical documents to verify accuracy of records or determine benefits eligibility.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Exercises creativity and latitude in executing delivery of HR services.
Collects workload and performance information using established quality control metrics.
Required Skills and
Experience:
Requires functional training and 4-6 years of experience in Military HR services, or Associates degree and 3-5 years of experience.
Position requires successful completion of a drug screening
Must receive a favorable determination on a Public Trust Position background investigation.
Work is generally performed in a normal office environment where there is minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions.
Job assignments may require working at client site where working conditions may vary.
Travel may be required.
