Westar Energy's Power Marketing group offers a high energy, team oriented work environment with an attractive base salary and benefits package. Total compensation includes an incentive opportunity with the potential for significantly increased earnings.
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (additional hours as specified)
Summary of Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
Executes and manages financial trading strategies, primarily using financial products related to RTO/ISO markets.
Analyzes and evaluates complex energy transactions to ensure that all factors including energy price, transmission, counterparty, congestion, and contractual terms are favorable and consistent with company risk management guidelines.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with customers.
Working knowledge of FERC/NERC rules and regulations related to energy trading.
Follows and adheres to FERC/NERC rules and regulations.
Reserves transmission and/or ramp for transport of energy related products throughout the United States.

Education and
Experience:
Requires a bachelor''s degree (MBA is preferred).
Familiarity with both physical and financial traded products and deal structures.
Understanding of electric system operations, scheduling, tagging, power flows, and generation technologies.
The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience in the RTO/ISO trading environment.
The successful candidate should have a basic understanding of options fundamentals, technical analysis for virtual portfolios and gas trading as it relates to hedging power. Demonstrated experience in positively influencing others. A working knowledge of risk management concepts and superior analytical abilities is important. Multi commodity portfolio experience and comprehensive knowledge of derivative pricing is highly desired.
The ideal candidate will be team orientated with a proven history of supporting company goals and be proficient at efficiently managing a 12 month multi-commodity portfolio.
Ability to influence others at all levels of the organization
Working Conditions:
Normal office working conditions.
Overnight travel is required.
Must have an exceptional work record including good attendance.
