Overview:
This is a NASA Test Evaluation and Support (TEST) contract position.
Responsibilities:
Will report directly to the Fire Chief. Duties consist of supporting fire and life safety inspections of buildings at the White Sands Test Facility, and all other duties associated to the Inspection field. Individual will be responsible for training on site personnel in Accountability, Evacuations, Emergency Systems, and fire prevention aspects of the organization. Determines existing and potential life safety issues (fire hazards) and makes recommendations for mitigation. Ensures code compliancy and adequacy of design for major construction projects. Reviews building plans for site projects. Inspects installed fire protection systems throughout the facility (Sprinkler systems, heat detection, & deluge systems). Must have the ability to keep organized record keeping and documentation. Will perform other related duties assigned by the Deputy Chief/Fire Chief. Must possess or obtain a SECRET security clearance from the U.S. Government. Must maintain access to government facilities and computer systems. Must be able to perform duties consistent with this classification as assigned by management. Must be able to pass a physical examination and Criterion Task Test as determined by the WSTF physical examination requirements for the Job Classification. Must be able to meet the requirements for certification, if applicable, as specified in the Satern Training database.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Candidates must have a minimum two (2) yrs. college or vocational training related to function plus eight (8) years direct experience, or any equivalent combination of education/experience for a total of ten (10) years. Must be licensed as New Mexico EMT - Basic. Must have current certification to NFPA - 1001 Firefighter I, New Mexico Training Firefighter Academy (NMTFFA) or equivalent. Must be Fire Inspector I certified, Fire Inspector II is preferred and candidate must complete Fire Inspector II within two years. Must have the ability to interpret NFPA 101 Life Safety Code and have a good working knowledge of NFPA standards. Must possess a valid Class E New Mexico Driver's License or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
Must pass a physical agility test for fire personnel. Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing. Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, use of stairs, and access to remote structures. Typically required to lift and hold up to 75 pounds.
Work Environment:
Position is located on a hazardous testing facility operated by NASA. Employees must comply with all NASA and company safety guidelines and policies. Firehouse (indoors) and field work (outdoors) is required. Must be able to travel to other work areas, be aware of safety requirements for those areas, and work within those constraints (e.g. access procedures and proper PPE). Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
Equipment and Machines:
Computer work may be required. Use of calculator, printer, fax, scanner, telephone, filing cabinets, and other standard office equipment is required. Use of equipment and machinery typically associated with firefighting and hazardous materials is required.
Attendance:
Regular attendance and punctuality as scheduled is required. Overtime may be required as determined by management or customer needs.

Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Dress must be appropriate for the position and not pose a safety risk or hazard to the employee or others in accordance with NASA and Company policies. Must be a U.S Citizen. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Must be able to pass a physical examination as determined by the NASA White Sands Test Facility and the Company for the job classification. Must submit to pre-employment drug testing. Must maintain site access to NASA facilities and computer systems. Must possess or obtain a SECRET security clearance.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
