Prepares a variety of pastry and dessert items in an appealing and tasty manner.
Decorates cakes and pastries with designs, using icing bag or handmade paper cone.
Prepares cakes by trimming uneven surfaces, spreading icing between layers and decorating the surface of the cake.
Creatively decorates all cakes, tarts, and pastries as well as special order items.
Assists with the production of all mandatory bakery products (parfaits, cake slices, bars, cupcakes, etc.)
Maintain the highest level of kitchen cleanliness and organization.
Respond to work requests from other departments, on an as-needed basis.
Follows and complies with all applicable health and sanitation procedures and adheres to safe work practices.
Operates and sanitizes all equipment in a safe and proper manner.
Puts the orders in time sequence and checks for any problem orders as well as petit four orders.
Order all raw materials needed to maintain production of required volume.
Must provide courteous and friendly service to all vendors and staff.
Performs related work as requested.
Experience: _ _1-2 years experience in high volume bake shop primarily in decorating pastry and dessert items.
EDUCATION: _ _High School Diploma or GED equivalent with some college level courses.
SKILLS: _ _Excellent communication skills. Ability to perform basic and intermediate math. Effective organizational skills. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff. Ability to present self in a professional, pleasant, confident and well groomed manner. Full knowledge and understanding of company and department rules, policies and procedures. Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.
