About the Position:
This position will be part of a small team of CTO Architects focused on the future of Sungard Availability Services' products and technologies. Specifically, The CTO Architect is responsible for researching and evaluating emerging and existing technologies and processes, in order to develop the multi-year technology vision and strategies for the company and innovative offering concepts. The CTO Architect will be responsible for leading the transition of these concepts to the correct teams for new product development. The successful candidate will need to be able to communicate effectively throughout the organization, advise, and consult with other organizations on technology-related topics. Specific responsibilities include:
Conduct extensive research into emerging and existing technologies related to strategic initiatives
Produce quality documentation of technical concepts
Present to and solicit feedback from various engineering, development and operations teams
Work with product teams to understand current products and roadmaps
Work with existing engineering and operations teams to understand existing infrastructure and offerings
Lead the development of offering proofs-of-concept and effectively transition those concepts to the lines of business for full architecture, engineering, deployment and commercialization
Gather extensive feedback from customers as part of researching and developing proof-of-concept offerings
Advise operational, engineering and development teams on strategic technical topics
Serve in an advisory capacity to the lines of business in the development of their product roadmaps
Requirements:
This role will be part of a small team of technology experts, each with differing areas of expertise. While the emphasis of this role will be in developing the long-term future of Sungard Availability Services' offerings, to be successful, the candidate will have significant background and technical knowledge in more than one of of the following areas (or similar):
Infrastructure-as-a-Service providers and platforms, for example: Amazon Web Services, VMware, OpenStack, CloudStack, etc.
Platform-as-a-Service providers and platforms, for example: Heroku, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google App Engine, Redhat OpenShift, SAP HANA, Oracle Cloud Platform, etc.
Application development tools and frameworks
Web services and APIs
Cloud, infrastructure, systems automation and tools, for example: Puppet, Chef, HP or BMC suites, RightScale, etc.
Big data & distributed processing technologies, for example: Hadoop, MongoDB, SAP HANA, etc.
Application and Infrastructure Monitoring and Management, for example: SNMP, NetFlow, application performance monitoring, etc.
One or more application and/or database platforms, for example: Oracle, MS-SQL, MySQL, PHP, etc.
Service provider operational and/or business systems, for example: ServiceNow, , Oracle E-Business, Oracle BRM, etc.
Core knowledge in storage, compute, network, security and related infrastructure, for example: operating systems, network routing protocols, SAN and storage platforms, etc.
Additionally, the successful candidate must possess the following:
Excellent interpersonal communications, both verbal and written
The ability to work as part of a global, virtual team
A strong sense of self-motivation and work ethic
A positive, persistent approach to their work
An ability to reduce complex ideas and problems into lucid concepts and solutions
A willingness to travel as needed, expecting to average 25-50%
A passion for new technology and innovation (tinkerers wanted!)
Education &
Experience:
Undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required, with graduate degree preferred
7-10 years experience working with enterprise IT or service provider environments
Relevant ongoing education through certifications, formal or self-study

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
