Position
Summary:
This position is located within the NIDDK Contract for Fisher BioServices. This position will receive, process, store, and withdraw biological specimens for multiple government clients at temperatures ranging from -190 C to ambient. Enter sample data into an inventory management system. Assist with inventory and database maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Receive, inventory and withdraw biological specimens of human origin at temperatures ranging from -190 C to ambient
Unpack, check, and place incoming samples into the appropriate storage locations
Enter data into on-line repository database for sample tracking and management
Pull and prepare biological samples for shipment
Respond to and document freezer alarms; may be asked to be on-call after hours to monitor freezer alarms periodically
Interact with personnel and clients to provide responsive service and resolve issues
Assist with administrative functions, facility maintenance and upkeep
Minimum Requirements/
Qualifications:
Education/Training- High school diploma;college degree in a scientific field preferred or equivalent experience
Business Experience- experience with data entry (Microsoft Office-Excel, Word) and Microsoft Outlook; laboratory, repository or warehouse experience a plus; experience working with biological and/or pharmaceutical samples a plus; valid driver's license and a good driving record.
Knowledge/Skills- Knowledge of Universal Precautions and quality control/assurance principles; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technical and professional personnel; ability to solve issues and recommend/implement appropriate changes; excellent interpersonal, customer-focused, problem solving, and planning/organization skills; ability to pay attention to detail and follow up in a timely manner; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and clients; proficient in personal computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office and Outlook; basic typing skills with emphasis on numeric key pad.

Physical Requirements:This position functions in a repository environment, which includes handling hazardous and infectious agents, mild exposure to dry ice and liquid nitrogen and marked changes in temperature; frequently required to type, sit, stand, walk, lift/carry up to 40 pounds; personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses, face shields, latex/nitrile gloves, lab coats) must be worn up to 8 hours per day when handling biological specimens and chemicals.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
