Summary:
This Application Specialist will serve as the Clinical IS subject matter expert for Blood Bank and will work with corporate laboratory operations and local blood bank laboratory directors to design, configure, implement, validate and support the Cerner PathNet Blood Bank and other laboratory applications. This position reports to the corporate Laboratory Systems Manager - PathNet Product Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In depth knowledge of the principles and procedures for Blood Banking and Transfusion Services to serve as the technical expert providing authoritative advice to assure that the PathNet Blood Bank module meets user needs and complies with all applicable regulations.
Strong knowledge of system validation to include writing and executing validation scripts to meet FDA guidelines.
Strong knowledge of regulatory environment that applies to Blood Banks: FDA regulations, 510-k medical device regulations, CLIA regulations, AABB guidelines, and GMP.
Evaluates and corrects incidents involving technical setup of the product at a facility
Knowledge sufficient to ensure adherence to The Joint Commission checklist and CLIA guidelines.
Ability to help develop processes to improve laboratory efficiency and turnaround time.
Holds meetings with stakeholders to review project progress, resolve issues, and support change management policies.
Builds relationships and confidence with stakeholders.
Serves as an escalation point for upgrades and services for reported incidents or for assigned projects
Organizes technical activities ensuring completion of the product/program/project on schedule

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree or 2 years of additional applicable experience can be substituted for education.
Minimum of 7 years clinical experience in a blood banking environment.
MT & SBB (ASCP) certification is preferred.
Strong technical experience (design, build, test, train, implement, validate and support) for Cerner Millennium PathNet BB.
Strong organizational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work with others throughout the IT environment to effectively lead and deploy software development projects on time and within budget.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of efficiency.
Strong ability to understand changing requirements and expectations while communicating effectively with functional team and IT organizational team.
