Summary:
The purpose of this job is to enable pharmacy graduates to gain additional knowledge and experience beyond traditional academic experience, undergraduate pharmacy clerkships and general practice hospital residency experience. An incumbent participates in the developments and implementation of departmental goals and objectives to improve pharmaceutical services and standards of patient care. Promotes department's delivery of pharmaceutical care with the primary focus on patient outcome. An incumbent remains in this classification for a maximum of 12 months from date of hire.
Essential Duties:
Performs all activities associated with meeting the objectives of each residency rotation.
Actively contributes to intra and inter-institutional dissemination of information to other members of the health care team to promote quality pharmaceutical services.
Actively pursues a defined area of interest for preparing a major research project.
Serves as an educator through active involvement in mentoring undergraduate interns, externs, and providing in-service training to pharmacy and non-pharmacy personnel.
Enhances pharmaceutical care by contributing value-added service not normally staffed by the pharmacy department.
Participates in human resource management through the departmental recruitment and interview process.
Continuously involved in the development, implementation and monitoring of departmental operations with department managers.
Functions as a staff pharmacist as needed and as appropriate.
May Coordinates Poison Prevention Week pharmacy activities.
May Coordinates Hospital Pharmacy Week promotional activities.

Qualifications
Education/Training:
Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy

Experience:
Hospital experience desired
License/Certification:
Registered Pharmacist or eligible for registration in Kentucky
