Organic Materials Engineering - Plastics for Chassis and Underhood Applications
Work closely with Platform Engineers, Sub-tier Suppliers and Materials Suppliers in the formulation, development and specification of plastic materials for the following areas:
o Powertrain/Underhood Material applications requiring high temperature plastics.
o Chassis materials used for fuel, coolant, other harsh fluids, wiring and electrical materials for harnesses, connectors and junction boxes.
o Body plastics for brackets, latches, actuators, and shifters.
o Manage short and long term materials development programs, coordinate effort between Materials Engineering and Product Engineering, Quality and Tier one suppliers.
o Assist in the development and establishment of materials and processes preferred practices for Underhood and Chassis components.
o Develop long term strategies for vehicle materials to achieve corporate objectives.
B.S. in Materials, Polymer, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited University
A minimum of 5 years materials engineering experience with automotive thermoplastic and thermoset materials in Engine, Powertrain, and Chassis applications Experience in the formulation and development of plastic materials for Underhood/Engine applications, wiring and electrical components, chassis/body plastic for functional components, is a plus
Experience with compression, molding (SMC), long fiber reinforced thermoplastic is also a plus.
