Position Description
The work of a Garage Mechanic with Bimbo Bakeries USA is performed in a sales distribution setting involved primarily in the distribution of bread and associated dough products. The specific department in which the duties are performed is the Transportation department.
Garage Mechanics diagnose and repair company vehicles. Work is primarily done indoors in a garage environment, but may also be required to perform duties outdoors in varying weather conditions. The Garage Mechanic must be cognizant of all of the hazards associated with the operation of heavy equipment and tools.
Diagnose and repair equipment failures to a safe operating state.
Minor and major engine overhauls of both diesel and gasoline engine powered vehicles.
Follows the company preventative maintenance program.
Tire repairs
Fueling and washing vehicles
May be asked to travel throughout the Sales Zone to handle emergency breakdowns.
Neat and Clean work area
Perform other duties as assigned.
Take appropriate action to ensure the integrity and sustained certification of the SQF system.
Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring.
Position Requirements
Experience:
High School Diploma/GED required
CDL class A license required
Appropriate state drivers license to legally operate all road equipment.
General vehicle mechanical skills and diesel mechanic skills experience.
Two(2) yrs of garage or truck line experience and/or vocational shool graduate with emphasis on gas and diesel.
Operation and knowledge of all shop tools and equipment welding (gas and electric).
Body repair (aluminum).
Position Requirements: Physical Requirements:
Must have ability to routinely and frequently stand, stoop, bend, climb and lift.
Must have visual/hearing ability sufficient to recognize or detect warning devices/signs.
Must have ability to routinely lift 50lbs.
General:
Must have own hand tools.
