POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Intake Clinician provides ongoing support and services to enhance engagement of clients and families in their treatment process. The Senior Intake Clinician will foster positive working relationships with clients, families and outside key stakeholders and utilize a strength based-solution focused model of care.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Counseling plus a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience is also required.
Credential(s) Required: Licensed in the State of Connecticut

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts program specific screening and evaluation, and formulates diagnosis in accordance with the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM). Develops and documents, clear clinical formulations and treatment plans.
Demonstrates knowledge of psychopathology and other behavioral health concerns and primary modalities of psychotherapeutic intervention. Triages clinical emergencies and implements program specific safety and consultation protocols.
Schedules, coordinates and runs client motivation/engagement groups for all clients who have been referred by their primary clinician.
Maintains a caseload of all clients referred to the engagement group. Completes all requisite documentation including updated treatment plans and discharge summaries.
Performs outreach with clients/families, via phone, to help enhance motivation within treatment.
Provides community referrals and coordination of care with outside providers to assist individual and/or family in overcoming barriers to attending therapy consistently, including referrals to primary care providers, transportation resources, supplemental mental health resources and higher levels of care.
Contacts all clients who did not show for their appointment the previous day. Reschedules appointments for clients with their clinician.
Sends engagement letters to clients who have not been seen by their primary clinician within established guidelines for level of care.
Meets direct service productivity goals as defined by program. Demonstrates knowledge of program/department/agency goals and targeted outcomes, and adheres to practice standards and to data collection and reporting protocols.
Communicates in a positive, effective manner with client, family, and all internal and external providers. Attends any required meetings.
Demonstrates knowledge of internal and external levels of care, referral processes and resources. Makes clinically appropriate referrals for identified service needs in a timely manner.
Attends and is prepared for scheduled supervision. Seeks additional supervision or consultation as needed and follows through with supervisory directives.
Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
