Special Investigations Unit - Investigator
Preferred Candidate Location - Memphis, TN Based Position (Remote)
Conducts investigations of suspect auto and life claims, interview witnesses, insured parties and claimants, examine vehicles, documents involving automobile and life insurance claims. Provide investigative expertise and work as a team member with claims adjusting staff to resolve suspect claims. These investigations involve all lines of insurance.
Primary
Responsibilities:
Conducts investigations with a focus on thoroughness, quality, with attention to detail, timeliness and cost control
Prepares and submits investigative reports on a daily basis covering all phases of the investigation.
Applies rules of evidence; recognizes evidence and determines its value to specific claim, evidence collection and interpretation
Requires clear understanding of the rules of evidence
Establishes and maintains liaison with NICB Special Agents, public officials, law enforcement officers and others to obtain assistance in conducting investigations
Knowledgeable about all applicable fraud statutes: local, state and federal to ensure duties and assignments are carried out within the requirements of applicable law and local office expectations
High degree of integrity and confidentiality required handling information that is considered personal and confidential
Customer Service and relationship/team building by maintaining contact during the course of investigations with company''s claims and Agency staff.
Develops network of resources within the community (e.g., local fraud bureaus, district attorney''s offices, law enforcement agencies, insurance associations, professional associations, and community groups)
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High Degree of Computer literate; database and Internet proficient
Bachelor''s degree or prior investigative experience in white collar crime law enforcement or claim experience
Prior experience in an investigative environment (Detective, Special Agent) with a state of Federal Agency.
Conflict management skills to deal with crisis situations, hostile witnesses, etc.
Position requires daily travel and requires ability for occasional overnight stays
Working level knowledge of insurance, claim operations and litigation management.
Interviewing skills, preferred candidate will have attended Kinesic Interviewing Skills Courses
Analytical skills and ability to make deductions; logical and sequential thinker
Knowledge of available resources (internal and external) to assist in investigations
Ability to work independently Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel Access, PowerPoint) required
Preferred Candidate will have prior expereince as an SIU Investigator with Insurance Carriers.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
