Mid sized metal working division of an International firm has an unique position. Needed is a hands on, self directed Manufacturing / Tooling / Programming Engineer capable of designing and programming 5 axis metal forming machinery. You will model the fixture, do detail drawings and push parts through manufacturing and engineering. Exposure to PRO E /PRO NC / PRO MAN would be a decided plus.
You will be comfortable in a Milling / Drilling / Turning operation that is a low volume , low mix, high precision metal working environment. Knowledge of program verification software is helpful(Vericut). You will be given latitude to see your work through to completion, and can learn from the team.
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for establishing the design of tooling, process parameters, routing sequence, and fixtures necessary to support CNC machining and post machining processes. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for development as well as mature product lines. This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, and will be a key contributor to the engineering team. The primary roles and accountabilities of the Manufacturing Engineer are listed below:
Responsibilities:
Design tooling and fixtures to support the work piece to successfully machine and process parts
Write CNC programs and perform program verification to support the machining of parts
Reduce cost to manufacture product using continuous improvement tools & methods or techniques
Be the technical point of accountability for support internally and externally for machined parts
Support New Product Development Projects to meet customer requirements
Prepare BOMS, Detailed Work Instructions (Routings), and Drawings for machined parts
Assist with Capital Equipment projects specific to machining
Qualifications:
Strong, demonstrated experience (10 years minimum) in machining processes and programming for large parts, preferably vertical turning lathes with live spindles. Such experience would also include 5 axis milling
Solid modeling experience, Pro Engineer experience
Comprehensive understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GDT)
CAM programming experience Pro Manufacturing,& Vericut
ERP experience for BOMS & routings, Epicor-Vantage
Versed in Design of Experiments, Identifying KIVs and KOVs
Skilled at working directly with operators as well as working with technical counterparts
Experience in welding and other fabrication processes a plus
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering is desired
Must be detail oriented
Must be a US citizen
Updated 4-1-14Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
