Expert knowledge of commercial underwriting, portfolio monitoring, risk identification and quantification, accounting principles, policies, and regulations is required. Effectively analyze risks associated with complex credits and investments such as CMBS, CLO, High Risk, Specialized industries, SNC''s, Capital Markets etc. across all portfolios and geographies.
Proven ability to interact with all levels of the organization including senior management, LOB managers, Senior Credit Managers and external regulators. Confident in conflict resolution demonstrating composure and diplomacy in influencing outcomes.
Proven leader with results oriented success in managing a team across multiple locations and priorities.

Bachelors degree required, Masters degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a CRR, C&I;/Commercial Real Estate credit approval or portfolio management role, to include meaningful experience in loan structure and document negotiation.

Major Purpose:
Independently opine on the level and trend of commercial credit related risks and adequacy of risk management practices for assigned portfolios with a fundamental objective of building a risk culture that supports business growth in the context of thoughtful risk stewardship. Responsibilities include: develop and implement annual and long range review plans, goals and strategic initiatives; establish and innovate Credit Risk Review processes and standards; and lead a team of CRR Specialists in the effective and efficient execution of review work. This position is responsible for substantiating independent opinions on commercial credit related risks based on consulting with business and risk management partners, field work and analysis of relevant metrics, written and verbal communication of findings to a wide constituency, and ensuring appropriate corrective action is taken to ensure credit risk performance is in line with established risk appetite levels
Major Functions
Fact based analysis of information derived from commercial file and analytics reviews together with ongoing dialogue with business owners/ risk partners and deep understanding of external influences (i.e.: market, industry, regulatory) in order to prepare meaningful reports for Management, Line of Business , Regulators , external auditors and other internal users . Timely and comprehensive delivery of findings that independent assess the level and trajectory of credit risk including early warning signs, concentrations, risk rating accuracy, asset quality, underwriting and monitoring. Develop review performance measures that link findings to the established policies, regulations, and risk tolerances in assigned portfolios, promoting accountability and building the bank''s risk culture, and Influence constituents and make recommendations where appropriate to facilitate improved process and controls to manage credit risk and issues. Lead continuous monitoring process for assigned portfolios to identify emerging risks, challenges and opportunities and alert constituents
Oversight responsibility for all activities associated with assigned portfolios and new business reviews, including selection of team members, coordination of pre-review work, and targeted selection of scopes based on known and emerging risks, completion of fieldwork consistent with CRR processes and standards to ensure accurate and well supported review conclusions in accordance with approved schedule.
Assist the Director of Credit Risk Review in developing the goals, strategies, standards and processes for the review of commercial credit related risks inherent in the bank''s loan and investment activities. Achieve operational excellence through continuous process improvement of all segments of commercial CRR activities to facilitate timely and effective identification and reporting of risk findings.
Recruit and develop a high performing, empowered team of Risk Review Specialists. Coach team members regarding new and complex products, policies and regulatory guidance. Develop CRR Specialists through challenging assignments, training opportunities to support current/expanded CRR responsibilities and career goals. Set clear expectations, recognize performance, and provide ongoing feedback.
Provide assistance to external examiners (OCC, KPMG, JP Morgan, and FHLB) and internal auditors in preparation for their scheduled exams and during the course of fieldwork.
