Construction of the
Lake Charles Refinery
was completed in 1941 at a cost of $4.5MM. The refinery was originally designed to process 7,500 barrels of crude oil per day to supply high-octane aviation fuel to WWII war planes.
Through 60 years of upgrades, LCR now processes 239,000 barrels of crude oil per day most of which is heavy sour & some high acid synthetic crude. Each upgrade of the facility brought additional complexity and market advantages. Most recently, LCR completed a $300MM dollar project to meet clean fuels regulations.
Description:
This position will provide electrical maintenance/reliability/project engineering support for the Lake Charles Manufacturing Complex. Electrical engineers provide leadership, technical expertise and business perspective in all areas related to the plant''s electrical system. This position is responsible for preventative maintenance programs, coordination of improvement and new projects, detailed design and construction, and cost/budget management. Works with operating and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement and reliability of electrical components, equipment and systems
Responsibilities may include:
Electrical Engineering support to Area and Reliability Engineers including small project design, Management of Change trouble shooting, etc
Maintenance engineering support to Electrical Supervisor, Electrical Planner and Electricians Includes equipment start-up, trouble shooting and small project design
Develop, maintain and continuously improve the preventative/predictive maintenance programs for electrical utilization and distribution equipment across the site includes: motors, motor starters, lighting systems, heating systems, De-salters, Dust and Mist precipitators, MCC''s, switchgear, transformers, VFD''s, etc.
Assist in the development, continuous improvement and execution of the Electrical Infrastructure improvement programs
Conducting system analysis studies (load flow, voltage drop, short circuit, relay coordination, etc) and work to correct deficiencies.
Overseeing application and interpretation of National Electric Code and other applicable codes and standards (e.g. NPRA, API)
Making recommendations regarding reliability of standard power distribution systems and application of backup systems (e.g. emergency generator, uninterruptible poser supply)
Directing and advising the application of the company standard in electrical design, equipment specifications, construction and testing.
Reviewing equipment specifications and drawings for projects pertaining to equipment location, single line, area classification and schematic drawing
Recommending vendors for purchase of equipment and provide technical review of bids.
Participating in technical networks; develop/implement best practices.
Basic/Required:
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Bachelor''s degree in Electrical Engineering

years experience in Industrial power system maintenance/reliability and/or design
Preferred:
3
years of direct experience in refining and/or chemical industry
Knowledge of API, ISA, IEEE, NEMA, UL, ANSI, etc
Strong oral/written communication skills and the ability to interact and work in a team environment
Computer proficient including applications for word processing, spreadsheets, databases and SAP
Past project management experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Well developed planning and organization skills
