Gerdau is currently seeking a Reliability Engineer III for its Charlotte, NC facility.

Responsibilities:

Reliability Engineer III or Reliability Leader is a technical leader in increasing asset availability through the utilization of ARP reliability tools, methods, and practices as part of the Gerdau Business System (GBS). Strong emphasis on implementing Continuous Improvement into the culture of the Gerdau Ameristeel mill assigned. The Reliability Engineer III reports to Reliability Manager and Reliability Leader can report to Engineering/Maintenance Manager in Centralize Maintenance Operation or Plant Manager in Decentralized maintenance organization.
Lead special projects and participate in engineering activities that will improve equipment reliability, optimize maintenance costs, and reduce equipment downtime. Lead the annual outage planning process to minimize down time and ensure all work performed to achieve equipment reliability. Coach and mentor operations and maintenance personnel on ARP procedures.
Ensure maintenance manuals, standard maintenance operating procedures and Computer Maintenance Management Systems, equipment reliability databases and other maintenance related software systems are maintained.
Due to close contact with operating management and personnel, outside contractors and vendors, this position requires the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of personalities and interests. The incumbent must manage the interests of all parties in creating and modifying work procedures and equipment.
The incumbent will work within the Gerdau Business System (GBS) and Computer Asset Management system to monitor and manage performance. Will organize, develop and conduct training programs for the maintenance personnel regarding new testing equipment, new operating equipment, new software, methodologies and procedures.
Due to the nature of manufacturing operations the incumbent may be required to be on-call, and must have high availability depending on the requirement of the operation or project being managed.
Responsible for staying abreast of current technology and recommending changes to effect continual asset reliability improvement. The incumbent should also possess a broad knowledge of engineering concepts, and techniques

Qualifications include:

Qualifications for this position include a working knowledge of heavy manufacturing, with Engineering degree from accredited college or university and at least 8
years' hands-on-experience in lesser positions such as Reliability Engineer II, having strong knowledge in Maintenance and Management Systems. The successful applicant will possess change management skills, a strong motivation to lead, solve complex problems, excellent project management skills and proven track record of delivering results.
