As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Kohler Power Systems, this is your unique opportunity to set your mark and live on the leading edge. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for alternator manufacturing processes at Kohler Power Systems facilities around the world. Function includes process development, equipment procurement, plant layouts, and process documentation. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer provides information and support to properly balance processes, improve productivity, determine capacities and cost product. This role will include domestic and international travel up to 35% of the time.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
Develop and continuously improve processes to manufacture alternators and related components utilizing Kohler Operating System/Lean Manufacturing principles. Analyze operations and sequence of operations to assure full utilization and maximum quality from equipment.
Coordinate introduction of new products to production. Work closely with Design Engineering and the production floor to effectively implement new products into production. Establish shop routings for all new products.
Provide concept, prototype and preproduction samples for development testing.
Evaluate capacity requirements to ensure production capability for manufacturing new products and volume increases on existing products.
Research and benchmark latest process technology and manufacturing techniques to continuously improve product quality and cost.
Purchase capital equipment. Responsibilities include the specification, bidding, selection, runoff, plant layout, installation and start of production for new equipment. Also responsible to request and obtain funding through the Kohler capital request (ACT) process.
Train manufacturing, manufacturing engineering and maintenance associates on manufacturing processes and equipment operation. Mentor junior engineers.
Champion continuous improvement (KOS events/workshops) and Cost Reductions efforts to continuously improve the process and lower the cost.
Provide required support for ISO 9001. Work closely with ISO coordinating team and manufacturing associates to ensure compliance to ISO 9001 standards. Follow procedures established for Manufacturing Engineering to execute design changes, implementation of procedures and reference documents, and all documented responsibilities of Manufacturing Engineering.
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS

Supervisory Relationships:
Reports to Manager, Manufacturing Engineering - Wisconsin Operations.
Organizational Relationships:
Frequent contact with manufacturing and manufacturing engineering associates to communicate new product processes and process changes.
Frequent contact with Design Engineering to review new designs for manufacturability and to provide samples for development testing.
Occasional contact with Kohler Power Systems Accounting and Marketing personnel to communicate new or revised routings and product costing.
Occasional contact with the Change Board Configuration Group for Bill of Material and required routing changes/additions.
Occasional contact with Quality Engineering to maintain and improve quality procedures and ISO 9001 requirements.
External Business Relationships:
Frequent contact with equipment suppliers to develop and improve processes.
Occasional contact with other divisions or companies to benchmark best practices of alternator manufacturing.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program
5
years experience in an alternator/motor manufacturing environment.
Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing processes, cost reductions and continuous improvement projects.
Strong sense of urgency, self motivated and self-directed requiring minimal guidance.
