Job Description:
We are looking for an engineer with strong project management experience, a PE, and consulting engineering experience. Chemical plant experience is needed for those who don't have an Chemical related degree.
Consulting engineering firm with projects in the chemical, power, non-wovens and other heavy industries is looking for a consulting engineer with project management experience.
MANAGER OF PROJECTS QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
Licensed Professional Engineer / PE
Minimum B.S. degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or similar engineering discipline.
Dual degree or familiarity in Construction Management is a plus.
15-20 years total industry experience in either consulting engineering or as an employee of an operating company as a capital projects engineer.
Construction Experience or Experience as Plant Engineer in industrial setting
MS Word, Excel, Project as intermediate or higher level user.
Responsibilities:
Manage talented group of project engineers and managers as well as manage projects
Assign proposals and projects based on availability and project needs
PROVIDE LEADERSHIP TO PROJECT ENGINEERS WITH THE FOLLOWING
Responsibilities:
Understand and control the scope of engineering services, as well as budget, project schedule, and quality of engineering deliverables.
Provide leadership for team of engineers representing different engineering disciplines.
Lead internal and external coordination meetings.
Serve as single point of contact for clients and document client communications.
Communicate scope changes to the client and prepare change orders.
High-level technical review of drawings, specifications, and other engineering documents for general conformance with project goals (detailed review by others).
Assure adherence to client and company procedures.
Develop and/or coordinate written construction scope of work documents for civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical tasks.
Assist with accounts receivable efforts.
Assist client or in-house staff with procurement activities.
Interface with construction personnel during construction bidding and construction. Construction contracts are usually held by our clients, or in some cases, engineering services are provided directly to the contractor.
Interface with document control, both internal and external.
Participate in and prepare reports for project feasibility studies, including cost estimates.
Present firm's capabilities to potential clients.
Write proposals, including project technical description and list of engineering tasks and deliverables.
Review engineering man-hour estimates to verify competitive stance on proposed services.
Review project financial performance, earned value, and trending.
Advise management of any issues regarding client relations, budget, scope, schedule, and quality.
On large engineering efforts or for candidates with less experience, this position may function solely as project engineer to support a senior project engineer/project manager.
Bottom Line Requirements:
1. Licensed Professional Engineer PE.
2. Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or similar engineering discipline.
