POSITION
Summary:
Manage and plan the activities for the design, analysis and implementation of the core transport network, and participate in network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies. Manages staff responsible for the development of cost estimates, system designs and detailed engineering packages for all customer network builds. Involved in technology evaluations and analyses in support of new product development initiatives and network enhancements. Documents and communicates design standards and guidelines. Develops and tracks capital and operating budgets.
Essential Functions:

Responsible for the design and development of Integra's core transport network, including metro and long haul DWDM network, interoffice SONET systems, and Digital Cross Connect Systems
Manage the Network Costing group responsible for providing cost estimates, systems designs, and detailed engineering specification packages for customer network builds
Perform technology evaluations and analyses in support of new product development initiatives and network enhancements
SCOPE OF POSITION:
This position requires supervision of Network Engineers, and does not work in a structured environment. Position performs multiple tasks in an environment of changing priorities and is primarily engaged in duties that require the exercise of discretion and independent judgment. Must meet challenging deadlines and be able to prioritize conflicting objectives. Works both independently and within a team environment while under limited supervision.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
BS, BA or related degree and five years of demonstrated telecom related experience, or ten years of related experience in lieu of degree
Candidate must have strong technical writing, presentation and verbal communication skills
Must have experience in designing and implementing metro and long haul networks using SONET, DWDM, Carrier Ethernet, MPLS, and other optical networking technologies
Candidate must have in-depth knowledge of telecommunications standards and engineering design principles
Engineering and implementation experience in a service provider environment with a strong emphasis on optical networking is required

Requires constant keyboarding, sitting, hearing and talking, occasional standing and walking, and infrequent bending at the waist, twisting of the upper body, kneeling, walking on uneven surfaces, squeezing and crouching. Requires infrequent lifting and carrying of from 1-20 pounds. Close detail work requiring visual acuity. Must be able to perform primarily sedentary work.
