Documentation Assistants are non-licensed individuals who will have a firsthand opportunity to work in the medical field. While employed, Documentation Assistant will work closely with a billing and coding specialist, project manager, medical providers, and stakeholders across the Wake Forest organization to streamline, implement, and remediate provider documentation in compliance with ICD-10 documentation standards. The Documentation Assistant will complete these tasks with the support of a billing and coding specialist and will be responsible for organizing and implementing feedback into medical templates and Smart Phrases while following a provider during their shift, as well as, working independently to meet project deadlines.
We have competitive temporary positions (30-39 hours/week) available at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in the surrounding Winston-Salem, NC area. Interested candidates must be available to start training as early as March. The starting Wage is $12/hour with approximately 90 hours of paid training. The project is expected to commence in 4 months but expanding the timeline is a possibility based on client needs.
Roles and responsibilities of a Documentation Assistant include:
Assist providers with updating documentation templates and Smart Phrases for ICD-10 documentation requirements
Assist providers with choosing the correct ICD-10 diagnosis
Ensure that ICD-10 documentation requirements are analyzed and addressed by the providers in their clinical documentation
Assist providers with conversions of ICD-9 diagnoses to ICD-10 diagnoses (when applicable)
Provide feedback to providers on EMR (Electronic Medical Record) utilization and documentation during patient encounters
Review provider documentation to ensure ICD-10 requirements are met based on provider tools, documentation calculator, and targeted feedback from billing and coding specialist.
Interacts professionally with all levels of management and client leadership
Hours will vary but they will mostly be Monday Friday, approximately 8am-6pm
Requirements:
Must have a high school diploma
Must be detail-oriented and strive to constantly improve knowledge and skills
Excellent verbal/written communication
Must be adaptive and flexible to a variety of situations and have strong observation and listening skills
Must be able to work independently to meet project deadlines
Associate Degrees and Majors may be from a broad range including biology, chemistry, computer science, and software engineering
Preference is given to applicants pursuing a future career in health care (PA, NP, DO or Pharmacy), previous medical experience, or seeking careers in computer sciences.
Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with working with EPIC EMR is a plus
Reliable transportation is a must

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
