BAE is seeking an experienced manager to oversee the process engineering technical operations team for the Infra-Red Systems Common Build Factories (IRSCB). The individual should have previous experience working in an Electronics Manufacturing environment for the build of complex IR/EO (Infra-Red/Electro-Optic) systems in a high mix/low to medium volume production environment. The employee should have previous experience working with sensor systems, high powered laser systems, complex electronic control units, fiber-optic technology, and various other IR/EO technologies. The manager will be responsible quality, cost, and delivery metrics for a medium size technical support team of 20 plus employees in driving resolution to all build issues in a complex IRSCB production environment.
Primary responsibilities are shown below:
Manages the technical support team for the production and test of products to all applicable specifications and requirements. Obtains trained personnel necessary to provide engineering support to the fabrication, assembly, test, and inspection teams. Partner and collaborate with the factory leadership to ensure that an acceptable product is delivered to the customer meeting their requirements.
Establishes and oversees expense budgets so that total cost objectives are achieved. Controls indirect labor, indirect labor by direct labor and overhead accounts to ensure that profit goals are achieved and a competitive cost structure is maintained.
Develops and maintains a continuous improvement program to ensure that assembly and test labor functions and support functions within the facility are competitive industry wide. Understands the principles of Demand Flow Technology (DFT) and is the Champion for all DFT/Lean implementations within the factory. Ensures that a cross-trained work force is in place to support program requirements. Prepares and discusses performance appraisals; interviews job applicants and hires. Plans, interprets, and implements Company policies and standards to ensure 100% compliance to the requirements for Security, ESH, ISO, etc. Through these standards and policies ensure all employees within the area of responsibility are provided with a safe and healthful work environment.

Experience: Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Scientific field or equivalent,Employees in California must have a Bachelor's degree in the applicable field, or an applicable certification, equivalent certificate or any required license. Equivalent experience will not be considered.
Required Skills: BS in Business Administration, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Optical, or Materials Engineering, or equivalent and 12 plus years of work experience. Requires strong manufacturing support and experience in complex final assembly build for IR/EO (Infra-Red/Electro-Optic) systems. Strong background in state-of-the-art manufacturing tooling, processes, and materials as well as industry standards in manufacturability and testability for optical technologies. In depth knowledge of optical test methods and equipment. Demonstrated experience supporting product development and NPI (New Product Introduction) transition of complex IR/EO (Infra-Red/Electro-Optic) systems into a production environment. Requires strong capability to lead and work in a team setting, strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skill and a customer first attitude. Must be capable of leading large and small team projects of a highly technical nature. Must be a US citizen eligible for a DOD security clearance and will be subject to a security investigation.
Preferred Skills: Must be self-motivated, independent, and capable of leading a medium sized technical and manufacturing team. Previous experience leading both technical teams and manufacturing teams in an Electronic based manufacturing environment. Must have a working familiarity with ISO 9001/ AS9100 quality systems and DoD manufacturing and test standards.
