Eaton has an immediate opening for a Commodity Manager at its Galesburg, MI campus. This position is responsible for managing the strategic coordination of sourcing and supplier relationship management, including developing commodity strategies, leading supplier selection activities, and establishing purchase contracts governing assigned commodities. A primary responsibility of this role concerns selection and management of vendors so as to provide Eaton with the highest levels of quality at the lowest landed cost while ensuring adequate capacity, on-time delivery, and commitment to continuous improvement. The scope includes supporting current products as well as new product development.
Responsibilities include:
Develop commodity strategy for required commodities. This includes segmenting the commodity into sourceable categories, developing and executing supply base right-sizing, three-year roadmaps to improve supplier performance (cost, quality, delivery), and ensuring appropriate levels of capacity to support business-unit demand.
Manage supplier relationships and opportunities for cost-out and product/supplier improvement, while ensuring production, delivery, and capacity requirements for all commodities.
Participate in supplier startup activities (e.g., PPAP, supplier approval process, specification/print development when necessary, trials, etc.). Coordinate cost-estimating and design parameters for new projects and products.
Negotiate with external suppliers and internal stakeholders; conduct problem resolution and settle disputes; develop win/win solutions; and create positive relations through tact and expert judgment.
Coordinate the exchange of technical information regarding product and product processing with adequate safeguards for confidentiality.
Negotiate resolution as required of Eaton claims with suppliers regarding non-conforming material (e.g., cost, time, rework, scrap, labor, sorting charges).
Evaluate social, economic, and governmental information to determine the risks and opportunities regarding global sourcing (e.g., tariffs, dumping duties, exchange rates, etc.).
Actively participate in teams working toward continuous process improvements, elimination of waste, simultaneous engineering, and advanced product quality planning.
Support the corporate-sponsored IDEAS program and its associated activities and tools.
Develop productive relationships with others in Supply Chain Management organization via mentoring, teaching and training.
Basic
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing-based business
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
Preferred
Qualifications:
MBA degree
At least 2 years of experience in supply chain management
Strong oral, written and presentation skills
Demonstrated understanding of key financial metrics
Familiarity with MRP, MRPII, JIT, lean manufacturing, kanban and vendor-managed inventory
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven track record of successful contract negotiations
Contract negotiating skills
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Knowledge of and experience with Oracle

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
